New journal strengthens Springer’s Chinese Library of Science

Springer, one of the leading publishers in the fields of science, technology and medicine, will publish the official journal of the Chinese Meteorological Society Acta Meteorologica Sinica as of January 2011. The peer-reviewed journal joins Springer’s Chinese Library of Science, a collection of more than 90 high-quality Chinese research journals.

Founded in 1987, Acta Meteorologica Sinica provides a platform for high-quality research papers from all over the world in the field of atmospheric sciences. It publishes articles in all branches of meteorology, including topics such as pure and applied meteorology, climatology and climate change, marine meteorology, atmospheric physics and chemistry, cloud physics and weather modification. The journal appears six times a year and was previously published by the society itself. Starting with Volume 25, Issue 1, Acta Meteorologica Sinica will be published at Springer electronically worldwide and in print outside mainland China.

Professor Ding Yihui, the Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and editor-in-chief of Acta Meteorologica Sinica, said, “We are glad to collaborate with Springer in publishing this journal. We believe that the partnership will improve communication in the community of meteorologists and enhance the visibility of the journal internationally.”

Lu Ye, Director of Editorial Project Management at Springer Asia Limited in Beijing, said, “Springer has a range of journals in meteorology and we are very excited that the Chinese Meteorological Society has chosen to work with us. Acta Meteorologica Sinica will add value to our meteorology portfolio. Our online information platform SpringerLink will help disseminate the journal worldwide.”

Established in 1924, the Chinese Meteorological Society is an academic non-profit organization, with more than 20,000 individual members and 133 corporate members. The society offers a forum for the exchange of ideas, information and experience among its members and others who have a professional interest in atmospheric sciences and technology.
